We have already talked about some of our processes, types of raw materials that we use at Plasscon to manufacture our Pharmaceutical Bottles, Containers for the Food Industry and Cosmetics, but now we will deal with a topic that we consider to be important for our clients, prospects and people in general.
Nowadays the care for our planet is latent, I know the harm we do to the planet by buying products that are packaged in plastics and how they contaminate our environment, well, in this blog we will see some Myths and Truths with regarding this topic:
Myth: Most of the plastic in the oceans is the result of improper care by the plastics industry.
Truth: According to "GVM Resource Efficiency" most of the plastic waste in the oceans comes from a lack of infrastructure, education and human error. Most marine debris comes from: landfills, overflowing containers, trash thrown away without thinking about the consequences, waste thrown down the toilet incorrectly, fishing nets, lost materials from cargo ships, etc.
Myth: Bio-based and biodegradable plastics are the same thing.
Truth: Although both types of plastics are considered "bioplastics", they are very different concepts:
Bio-based plastic materials are made partly or entirely from renewable raw materials. Copolyester systems, starch-based materials, polylactic acid, and cellulosic materials are primarily used to create these biobased plastics today. They can be biodegradable, but they don't have to be to be called Bio-based plastic.
Biodegradable plastics, under specific conditions determined by temperature, humidity, oxygen and time, can be converted into water, carbon dioxide and biomass.
Myth: Most of the crude oil in the industry is used to make containers for different industries.
Truth: According to "GVM Resource Efficiency" most of the oil and gas reserves of the plastics industry are used for transport, traffic, energy, and heating. It is estimated that 2.7% of Crude Oil and Natural Gas is used as feedstocks for plastics.
Plasscon manufactures Lids, Caps, Closures, Inserts and Dosing Cups, through this process, with cutting-edge technology and under strict quality standards.
